With a dose of Midwestern pride and a detectable lack of interest, I don’t pretend to know much about the largest city in the U.S. There was never much of an attraction for me.

Enjoy alpine lakes below very aggressively rising rock faces, setting up dramatic and contrasting lines between the flat calming effect of the water and the sharply upward ascending summits of sentinel-like peaks.

It's not too early to be obsessing over my gear... because that's what I do. Here is my Colorado Trail thru-hike gear list.

Before there was Barr’s Trail, the Cog Railway, or the highway up to Pikes Peak there was a different trail, the Historic Trail. This trail went from Colorado Springs to Jones Park and Lake Moraine, up to Windy Point, and on to Pikes Peak.
