I do many day hikes during the year. Most of them are in the foothills near Colorado Springs, CO. Some are for fun. Some are for training. Some are for both. But the gear I take with me is pretty much the same, regardless of the purpose. Although, I may swap out some gear depending on the location and weather conditions.

Pack/Shelter/Trekking Poles

Sleeping System

Emergency Sleeping Bag

Water/Kitchen

If I plan on having a hot drink I would take a small kitchen kit:

Cloths

Electronics

Ditty Bag

  • Poop kit (trowel, bidet)
  • First Aid kit (Dr Bonners soap, Gold Bond Powder, Ibuprofen, Toenail Clippers & file, oral care supplies)
  • Repair kit (includes cord, tape, sewing kit)
  • Fire kit (could be just matches, lighter, or a ferro rod)
  • Dyneema Bag by Hartford Gear Co
